Trudy Pitts comes from a musical family with roots in Philadelphia. She picked up the piano at the tender age of six, and was later introduced to the church organ through Sunday School and a deeply involved church community. This prodigy not only involved herself with church choirs, but also made it a point to get the best musical education she could at Juilliard’s, Temple University and at Philadelphia’s Musical Academy to cite a few. Bill Carney, her husband, nurtured the love of soul and jazz in Trudy’s musical heart while she was traveling with the award winning show Raisin’. She continued to pursue jazz even after she lost interest in Raisin’.
