The award-winning ocean inspired musical piece has finally announced that its premiere recording is under way. The American composer, John Luther Adams’s award-winning orchestral work aptly titled Become Ocean will be recorded by the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and Ludovic Morlot. According to Alex Ross, the three huge crescendos suggest an apocalyptic tidal wave surging washing over all the lands. Adam’s single-movement orchestration evokes the feeling of the vast watery regions of the planet and won him the 2014 Pulitzer Music Prize.

Trumpeter Alexandra Ridout Wins BBC Young Musician’s Jazz Award

Alexandra Ridout has been crowned the second winner of the BBC Music Young Musician Jazz Award since its inception in 2014. The show runs parallel to the long-established classical music competition. At the finals that were held in Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, 17-year-old Alexandra Ridout from Aylesbury was voted the winner after the judges were impressed by her on-stage performance with the Gwilym Simcock Trio. Julian Jospeh claimed that she felt the way Alexandra played the blues gave it an importance and a relationship with the listeners that the judges felt tipped the odds in her favour. Simcock agreed quoting that her mush was honest and heart-felt in a way that could reach everyone.
